Mt Ousley is the bushland edge of the Illawarra. Most blocks back straight onto the escarpment, the streets are some of the steepest in Wollongong, and the trees are tall, wild, and constantly dropping limb load onto rooftops below. We’ve been doing Mt Ousley since 2014, and our rigging kit and APZ paperwork are built for these exact streets.

That changes the work. Most jobs are bushfire APZ pruning (Asset Protection Zone) for RFS and council compliance, sectional rigging for tree removals on steep blocks, and hedge work to handle the noise from Mt Ousley Road and the M1 onramp. It’s specialist work and we run it with the right kit.

Wollongong City Council requires a Tree Removal Permit Application (TRPA) for trees over 5 metres or 600mm trunk circumference. Mt Ousley sits on the bushland boundary, which usually means a bushfire-aware review on top of the standard TRPA. Dead, dangerous, or exempt species can often go without approval. We lodge the application as part of the quote.
Yes. Most Mt Ousley properties back onto the escarpment bushland and need an Asset Protection Zone kept clear. We prune to the NSW RFS 10/30 rule (Inner Protection Area), clear undergrowth and dead limbs, and supply the certificate of compliance for council and insurance.
Yes. The upper Mt Ousley streets are some of the steepest residential blocks in the Illawarra. We rig trees down in sections, use EWP gear where the driveway grade allows, and run hand-winching on the absolute worst access. Job-site walk-throughs before we quote so there are no surprises.
Yes. A lot of Mt Ousley housing is rented to UOW students or runs as long-term investment property. We quote off photos, work without anyone home (with side access), email the invoice and photo report direct to the agent, and time the work for between-semester windows where the landlord prefers it.
No. Same flat pricing across the Wollongong council area. No travel surcharge to Mt Ousley. Steep-block rigging, EWP access, and APZ paperwork are quoted up-front so there are no surprises on the invoice.
